The stucco was also braking off and cracking due to its age. The homeowner decided to stucco over the existing stucco. Removed failing roof shingles and installed new roof shingle of Silver Birch by Certainteed. Chimney cap also was failing due to rusting of cap. Hydrostop was installed on top of chimney cap while installing new roof shingles. The roof edges had 1″ x 6″ pressure treated board around edges creating a lip in the shingles due to 3/4″ 1 x 6 vs 1/2″ plywood. We replaced the board with 1/2″ plywood eliminating the lip. The 1 x 6 procedure is done by carpenters from the North who are required to use it due to ice buildup on the edges. They come to Florida and frame a new roof with the 1 x 6. Carpenters from Florida know to use 1/2” plywood only on the entire new roof system. The images attached show how Certified Quality Roofing install the 1/2” plywood along all the edges before we applied peel and stick and new roof shingles. We also installed Omni Vent on the roof ridge to vent the attic space. Certified Quality Roofing is now offering 20 year installation labor warranty on Certainteed new roof shingles.
